Life is full of liars, cheaters, murders and more. You might think they don’t exist in your community because you live in the upper class part of town but little do you know they live around every corner. Fuck, I could be your neighbor. I grew up a small town boy that was bullied at every turn. I was small back then and I’m not a big fucking hulk now but I can hold my own these days. I learned how to fight not only with my fists but my mind. Sarcasm was my best friend all through school. Some thought it was funny and earned me new friends. Others thought I was being an asshole and earned me another fight. Either way I grew up and moved on. I left my family behind in that small town to find something better, something bigger. What I found was trouble in the form of a biker. Riley was a big motherfucker, a hell of a lot bigger than I was and the day I ran into him, literally was the best day of my life. My tore up ford truck slammed right into his sparkling chromed out Harley. I thought for sure I was a dead man but Riley laughed and bought me a beer. He was a lot like me in ways. Hated his upbringing, wanted something more. We clicked and that’s what brought me here to today. Sitting at the Nomad clubhouse in Georgia with a redhead wrapped around my cock. Well, her lips are anyway.

“Hey, Keaton! Got a job for you!” Riley calls out as red bobs her head up and down. I clench my jaw not wanting to hear his shit right this minute. The only job I need is to blow down her goddamn throat.

“Little busy here, boss!” I grunt as she sucks harder. Riley chuckles and grabs his notebook off the table before walking toward me. Jesus that man has no patience. He bends down, smacking red on the ass and making her yelp around my cock.

“Fuck!” I mumble when her teeth slip against my skin.

“Speed it up, sweetheart,” Riley grabs the back of her hair and forces her to take my cock further into her throat. She gags but I come. I blow a fucking load right down her throat, my hips jerking as I go. Riley takes a seat next to me, tossing the notebook at me as red removes herself.

“What’s this?” I ask looking over the words scrawled across the page.

“A job. You want it? Just came in.” I read over what is written in front of me and run my free hand through my hair.

“Guard duty huh?” Glancing over at Riley he nods.

“Need three guys on. Rotate out. One outside all the time.”

“Who the hell is she?” I ask curious as to what the job is all about.

“No information left. All we know is how to find her. Don’t know who the fuck we’re protectin’ her from or why,” He grunts as he speaks. Well that is one fucked up job I suppose.

“That’s it? How the fuck are we supposed to know who to shoot?” I ask playfully. Riley chuckles and motions to the whore across the room for two beers.

“Fuck if I know. I was gonna take it but they want someone there asap, brother. I gotta head out in the mornin’ to handle somethin’ else. Figured I’d ask you first.” The bitch walks over, passing us each a beer. I take a long pull and stare at the paper in my hand. It’s a little fucked up not to know who you are protecting someone from. Most of my jobs are guard work or protection but we know the target.

“Fuck it. I’m in,” I say as I swallow another long pull.

“Yeah? Pick you two guys to roll with you. I’ll set up the payments to your account, you can shell that shit out.” Nodding my head, Riley stands from his seat and heads toward the offices while I scan the room. No one here sparks my fucking interests so I slide my phone out and dial up Brick. Brick’s in with an MC here in Georgia that I’m friendly with.

“The fuck you want?” He answers as I chuckle.

“Not your dick princess so calm down. Got a job, you in?” I listen to him rustling around, no doubt shoving some whore out of his room before there’s only silence.

“What kind of job?” He asks when he comes back on the line.

“The kind we know shit about. Guardin’ some bitch but don’t know from who.” Brick chuckles in the other end.

“Let me get with Prez but I don’t see an issue.”

“Bring Davis too. It’s a three man type deal. None of these fucks around here are worth a damn and my boys are out in Cali right now,” I inform him.

“Heard that. I’ll get back with in a while.”

“Make it happen, brother.” I hang the phone up and slide it back in my pocket before grabbing the pack of cigarettes off the table and lighting one up.

“Are you sticking around a while this time, Keaton?” I hear Beverly purr from behind me. Glancing over my shoulder, she grins at me.

“No. Got a job. Thought you were headin’ out to Texas?” Motioning for her to come around and sit with me, she does without hesitation. Beverly is a club whore just like the rest that hang out around here. She’s been here a long time, since she was about fifteen years old. I’ve always treated her like a sister even though she’s wanted more. She drops on the couch next to me, her tiny shirt showing way to much skin for me.

“I was but Brandon took off. The asshole was my ride,” she huffs crossing her arms over her chest.

“You never told me what you were headin’ out there for,” I press her a little. She shrugs her shoulder and leans over to lay her head on my shoulder.

“I heard my real dad lived out there somewhere. I was thinking about looking for him.” I know that’s something that has been hard on her, not knowing her real dad. Probably why she hangs out here looking for love from the wrong people.

“You know I would take you but I got job, babe. If you’re still around when it’s over, I got you but if you head out before then, I want phone calls. At least a goddamn text so I know you aren’t dead,” I tell her. Beverly laughs and tilts her head to look up at me as I do the same to look down at her.

“You’re always so nice to me, Keaton.”

“You’re my sister, I have to be.” She rolls her eyes like I knew she would but that’s just how I feel about her. She’s grown on me that’s for sure. My cell rings and I slide it out to answer as Beverly tries to climb off the couch. I grab her wrist and yank her back into my side before I answer.

  “You in?”

“Yeah, me and Davis are on our way to you.” The line goes dead as I sigh and wrap my arm around Beverly’s shoulder.

  “Gotta go?” She asks softly.

“Yeah. Duty calls, sweetheart. You got my number though, don’t fuckin’ hesitate like last time,” I warn her. Last time she got into some shit with one of the guys and almost lost her life. Had she called me when shit went down, I would have had it handled but she didn’t.

“I know, dad! I will,” she mouths off. I turn my head and press a kiss to the top of hers. This girl will be the death of me one day.

  Skye
/>   “You know what Denver? If wanted your hand anywhere on my ass I would have asked you to touch it. Since I didn’t this will be the nicest I ask you!” I roar through the diner with his hand uncomfortably bent behind his back. You don’t grow up in hell and not learn how to fight. Denver howls in pain as the rest of the customers laugh in his face.

“You’re gonna break his arm like that, Skye!” Bill hollers through the window behind me. I smirk at him over my shoulder as I walk Denver toward the door. I’m not a small petite little girl like some. I’m five foot eight and quiet capable of handling myself as I prove every week with Denver.

“He’d like that too much, Billy. Wouldn’t you, Denver?” Shoving him out the door, the others scream and cheer but I just shake my head and go back to the counter.

“He’s gonna have you arrested one day, sweet cheeks,” Billy grins at me through the window from the kitchen. Billy owns Maggie’s Diner and he knows damn good and well that I am not going to jail over Denver. This is a small town here in Georgia that I found a few years ago. Running is hard and to be able to find somewhere that no one knows you or that even bats an eye at you is harder. This is it. Maggie’s Diner is my place. I came in here broke without a dime and Billy took pity on me. Offered me a job and an apartment that was close by. I’ve been here ever since and I love it. My past life is just that. It’s the past. It’s behind me and I can only pray that it stays there. I’m not naive enough to think that if my dad wanted to find me that he couldn’t. He has the power and resources to do just that but my brother made it damn clear the day I left that he better just let me go. So far so good.

“Come on, Billy! If he wanted me in jail he wouldn’t keep coming back here, you know that!” I grab the coffee and head around the counter filling everyone up for their last cup before we close for the night. I go about my routine of putting things away and wiping down the counters as the evening wears on. People slowly filter out one by one until there’s only me and Ruby.

“Ruby I can close up if you want to go get ready,” I tell her. Ruby is a waitress here and not much different than me. She likes to leave her past behind her as much as I do mine. We’re good friends now but we both know our boundaries when it comes to the other. It’s a don’t ask don’t tell relationship and it works just fine for us.

“You already know that if you offer, I’m leaving, Skye.” She giggles throwing her rag at me. I shake my head and watch her bound for the door. She stops and calls over her shoulder, “Don’t you dare be late to Duke’s. I plan on drinking until I throw the fuck up and fucking whoever catches me.” I laugh as I watch her leave. I know she will do just that too. I turn around and start putting away the last of the glasses when the bell sounds.

“We’re closed!” I call out over my shoulder. I don’t turn around because typically the assholes just leave in a huff when they hear me yell at them. I stand up and spin around to face a man in a mask. My heart starts beating wildly in my chest.

“Open the register,” he says in a deep voice.

  “There’s nothing in it.”

“Do it!” Shaking my head slowly, I can hear someone pulling into the parking lot. The diner is off the main road and back in the tree line so you can hear when people arrive and leave. My stomach cramps when the man in front of me lifts a gun toward my head. No, they couldn’t be here. They wouldn’t send someone would they?

“I said, open the register,” he growls one last time. I shake my head again and just as I’m about to say that it’s empty the butt of the gun slams into the side of my head. Pain burns through me as I fall to the floor in a dizzy heap. I can hear footsteps and can only pray that the asshole left the way he came in. that bastard! I lay in a heap on the floor with my head down, trying to keep the room from spinning. I can’t believe this even happened. What kind of bastard does he think he is? I hear the bell on the door again but I don’t dare move or the world might just toss my ass back to the floor. Hearing someone walking and then stop right behind me, I still.

“Oh, for fucks sake. They got me guardin’ a dead bitch,” the voice says not sounding happy at all.

“I’m not dead asshole! Just dizzy as fuck,” I moan as I roll over and start to shove myself up, holding onto the counter to steady myself. When I am finally able to stand the room spins like I knew it would and barf dances up the back of my throat.

“You look like shit. You’re bleedin’ too.” The asshole states the obvious.

“Well, when some dick hits you with a gun that tends to happen,” I smart off right back to him.

“You got robbed?” He asks not bothering to help me stand or anything. Where did this loser come from?

  “Tried to.”

“Guess you can tell that story to the sheriff,” he says.

“I don’t talk to the sheriff. He doesn’t like me,” I tell him. I hear the chuckle but when I look up his face is a haze as it spins past me.

“Guess that won’t be good since he is walkin’ this way,” he says nodding toward the door. Oh for fucks sakes. I don’t need this shit today. I force myself to stand taller, moving my long dark hair to cover the blood that I can still feel trickling down my temple and plaster a smile on my face. The door chimes and the sheriff walks in looking like he wants to shoot me on the spot.

“Oh, it’s you. Thought Ruby might be here,” he says looking me over.

“Nope. Just me. How unfortunate for you. Wasted all that time you could have been spending over at Donny’s Donuts to drive out here,” I smart off with a smile. The man next to me chuckles under his breath. Sheriff Douglas cuts his eyes to him and then back to me.

“You know I’m watching you, girl.”

“Aren’t you always? I think it’s a little out of your league to watch me shower but I can still feel those beady little eyes of yours through the window,” I fuck with him a little more. It’s not that I hate him, I just don’t like him much. I don’t know what it is that pushes my buttons but from the day I met him I just can’t stop myself from harassing him.

“You know damn good and well I don’t watch you shower, Skye!” That vein in his forehead pops out a little more when he yells. I love it.

“Ruby went home to get changed. We’re going to Duke’s which I’m sure you already knew since you stalk the fuck out of people. Don’t you have tickets to write?” I ask, grabbing my rag and pretending to be busy. Douglas huffs and turns, stomping back out the door as I toss the rag onto the counter. Grabbing my purse from under the cabinet, I head to the door, shoving this man along with me.

“We’re closed as if I needed to say that again. You can go now.” He stops moving and stands in front of me. He isn’t a huge man, maybe five ten, five eleven but I could feel the hardness under that shirt he has on so he must work out a lot. I didn’t notice the cut he has on but then again, bikers don’t bother me. A few come through all the time and have lunch here and for the most part they seem polite enough.

“Skye.” He says my name as he shakes his head.

“Keaton,” I read the patch on his cut and stare back at him.

  “You’re my goddamn job?”

“I’m no one’s job. Whatever you’re offering, I’m not buying. Now get the hell out of here before I call Sheriff half-wit back over here.” He smirks at me but doesn’t budge. Well, fuck him too. I start to move around him but he takes one step, that smile still plastered to his pretty face and glares at me.

“Looks like we’re goin’ to Duke’s,” he says raising an eyebrow.

  “Who are you exactly?”

“Keaton. You’re new bodyguard and I must say that I’m gonna have fun guardin’ that.” I take a step back and wonder what the hell he’s talking about but I don’t ask. Instead I just look him up and down. From his dust covered boots to those jeans that hang off his hips, the chain hanging from one side and up to that pretty face of his. Fuck. He can do what he wants with my body.

“You’re going to guard me?” I ask stepping into his space. />
“That’s the job I was hired to do,” he says casually. I lift my hand and run it down that solid chest I knew was under that shirt as he watches me.

“You can do what you want with my body.”

“Is that right?” He asks capturing my wrist in his hand.

“Oh, yeah. After I’m dead,” I snap yanking my arm away from him and walking past him. I hear him let out a chuckle and mumble, “We can arrange that.”

She stomps down the side of the road as I push my bike with my feet. I don’t know how long we’ve been doing this but it’s really getting on my nerves now.

“Just get the fuck on the bike!” I roar again. Skye turns looking over her shoulder and sticking her tongue out at me just the same as she’s done for the last two miles. I’m starting to debate taking this goddamn job if this is what I have to look forward to.

“How much further is your place?” I ask hoping like hell she will actually answer this time.

“Not much further,” she huffs and keeps walking. I roll the bike along beside her not giving a shit if she likes it or not. I can tell that she’s aggravated just as much as I am. Guess that makes two of us. We keep going when she finally turns toward an apartment building. I thank fuck too because this shit is getting out of hand quickly. I park my bike and climb off, leaving my helmet hanging on the handlebars where it’s been for the last hour. Stalking along behind her she stops at number three and pulls out her keys.

“Why are you following me home anyway? Do I really need to call the Sheriff?” She snaps at me turning to fully face me now.
